Some Experiences with Natural Medicine
and related observations

WEB LOG

I have set up a trial web log (or Blog for short) to enable others to comment and put their own experiences on record.  If you wish to look at this web log and leave comments, please click on this link to my blog site, which is powered by Community Server (CS).  I was initially baffled by its terminology and its not very transparent structure - so I will explain them here.

You will notice a reference to Complementary Therapies in the left column. This is the name of the Blog Group I have set up for discussions relating to this sub-web of mine on Natural Medicine; this is like a high level folder.  This Blog Group folder holds a number of Blogs, or topics, such as Natural Cures for Blepharitis; these are the names of sub-folders.  Each blog can hold one or more posts (further folders).  For example, Natural Cure for Blepharitis has more than one post.  On the right, you can see a list of the LATEST POSTS - since I cannot structure this list output by CS, I have created a blog index.    The last line of each post tells you the Blog which contains the post.  For example, the post Castor Oil for Blepharitis? is within Natural Cures for Blepharitis.  Click on Castor Oil for Blepharitis.  It will bring up the discussion thread for this post under its Blog - Natural Cures for Blepharitis.  The initial post heads the discussion and I have enabled anyone to Post a comment to this post.  The other items beneath the post starting with  # are comments.   The heading for the comment is provided by the person posting it.  The system will not allow me to edit a comment - I can only delete it.  So, your views will not be compromised.  Thus, the structure of a CS site is as follows:

Blog Group <Complementary Therapies> - there may be others

Blogs <e.g. Natural Cures for ...>

Posts <e.g. Castor Oil for Blepharitis?>

Comments <# Re: ...>

You need not register to post a comment - you may remain anonymous and use a pseudonym.   If there is no invitation to Post a Comment: - under the post, it merely implies that I have forgotten to enable it.  Please forgive my lapses - I have provided a post entitled Messages for Mahes Visvalingam where you can point these out.  Comments may be deleted, especially if they are offensive and make no substantial contribution.

If your comment should be taken up in a different thread of discussion, I will suggest this.  For example, Castor Oil for Blepharitis attempts to get feedback on a) its effectiveness; b) other proven cures for Blepharitis; and, c) other proven uses of castor oil.  For example, we were forced to take castor oil as a monthly purgative when we were children - but I have not taken it since my teens.  I know that others have continued this practice and would prefer them to tell us why.  I am willing to help with the drafting of their submission and am happy to set up the post for them.

Only trusted users can initiate a new post within a blog. But, if your comment suggests that the topic should be pursued in a different thread, I will suggest it and set it up for you if you leave an email.  Please do not give your email within your public comment.  Your email will remain private if you become a registered user - remember that you can use a pseudonym for registration.   If you wish to register, click on Home on the bottom left and then on Register (top right) of the Home page.  I am still trying to figure out how I can use the CS software to create user-friendly forums, which can be administered by other trusted users.

It is my hope that this fledgling project for sharing experiences in an organised way will mature into a Community Project run by people who believe that health is more important than wealth.

Thank you for your participation.

30 Mar 2007 - Please note

Unfortunately, unsociable elements are abusing my blogs.  Fortunately, I noticed this within 24 hours and deleted about 20 comments with irrelevant content, containing links which could be malicious.  I am worried that those visiting my blogs might unintentionally click one of these links.  I have therefore decided to moderate all comments, tedious as it is.  So, your comments may not appear until I have had the time to approve it.   Please excuse my intervention.
